・ [point in timeline I'm picking him from]: Immediately after he returns to his original form (by the destruction of a machine intended to convert Kingdom Hearts into data), in KH2. That means that he never left the world of darkness, never received Mickey's letter, etc.
・ Chances are that he'll mistake you for some sort of villain trying to fuck with his head OR his heart (hello Maleficent), and that's not gonna please him.
・ Once he realizes that all he's done was part of a game YOU played, he just might lose it (ohh, the real thing stuck with a fake complex 8D). Though, depending on the way you approach him about it, and the general context, it might also soothe him.

Destiny Islands is a beautiful place where laughter abounds. Day after day, Sora, Riku, and Kairi talk and dream of new places, new worlds beyond their islands. They ponder the usual questions that your average teenager does - about the world outside, about their own existence. Little do they know a great destiny awaits them, and one stormy night, a terrible darkness invades their home... thus does their journey begin.

Kairi loses her heart, and Riku allies himself with Maleficent in order to save her. Riku was actually the rightful master of the Keyblade, but once he chooses darkness over light, the weapon goes to Sora. Ansem exploits Riku's weakness of heart and possesses him, making him do several things that he will later try to redeem himself for.

After confronting and 'defeating' Ansem/the darkness in his heart in Castle Oblivion, he and King Mickey travel to different worlds cloaked in the robes of those who are members of The Organization. During this time period, Riku leaves Mickey to wander the darkness in order to pursue his own agenda, and because Xehanort's Heartless is still inside his heart, corroding his emotions and effecting his judgment. Ansem the Wise eventually locates Riku and enlists him in his care, wanting him to locate a boy named Roxas in order to help awaken Sora, his best friend. Riku quickly departs and battles Roxas, but he soon finds himself defeated, causing him to surmise that the only way to fight within the realm of darkness is to immerse himself in it, become darkness itself. When Riku returns to Ansem the Wise (DiZ), he goes as far as to introduce himself as 'Ansem'. Riku sacrificed himself; all in order to save his best friend.

He is in sorts the hero that never was; one who aids those he loves without them ever knowing it. The role of the protector is a major principal in Riku's core values. He's extremely loyal, so it's no surprise he takes his job so seriously. Even if he doesn't receive praise or any sort of notoriety, Riku always ensures the well being of his loved ones, even though he's hiding in the dark.

Seemingly peaceful, confident and strong, Riku wears a mask underneath which lies the very essense of his soul, a hidden treasure that very few gets to find. The silver-haired boy built himself a thick façade in his early youth, a shell that protected him often and kept him sane. Riku is not invincible; he has his fair share of weaknesses, but one of his strong points is his ability to hide them perfectly. Passionnate, ambitious, he doesn't give up easily when trying to reach his goals. His tendency to think himself better than most makes him want to surpass himself constantly; the world he lives in is vast and makes him feel as though he is nothing among all of its creatures, thus making him work hard to prove that he is worth his place in the universe.

Riku is often seen as a cocky, mettlesome individual, but there lies one of his unavowed traits; he cares deeply for his loved ones, and his fear of losing those with whom he is intimate incites him to give a hand to anyone and anything that requires help. He doesn't have many close friends, but once you've touched his heart, he'll love you forever. He may not be very good at showing his affection, but the subtle hints he drops are easy enough to recognize for those who know him well; Sora and Kairi, his best friends, are the only ones he ever allowed to see all of what he is.

Riku isn't the type of person who'll ask for help; he is proud and likes to be self-reliant, and will rely on others only if absolutely necessary. He's rather possessive, can be jealous at times and tends to hold grudges; hurt him once and he'll hurt you twice. That is one of his weak points; when it comes to darker emotions, he has very little control over them, disabling him from hiding them and making him act impulsively.

In comparison to Sora's two-handed style and Roxas' dual-weaponry, Riku attacks with a fast one-handed style with his Soul Eater/Way to Dawn (keyblades). Riku attacks very quickly with either weapon in combat, and is just as strong with his weapons as Sora is with his. His strength and agility are best demonstrated when you get to fight against him (and a love/hate relationship with him ensues, as he tends to piss you the hell off).

Riku possesses various abilities that combine his dark powers with Sora's light powers. He can use Dark Aura to fire Dark Firaga when Sora completes a combo, and use Dark Shield to project a barrier and protect him.
